Benign skin lesions are common and do not require treatment; however patients occasionally request removal of lesions which are unsightly. There are several skin lesions that are very common and benign (non-cancerous). These include moles, freckles, skin tags, benign lentigines, and seborrheic keratosis. Once it has been established that the lesions are benign, it is a matter of personal choice when it comes to deciding whether or not to remove them. Depending on the type of lesion and size, there are different methods used for removal of skin lesions.
Excision and suture is used for moles when cosmetic results are not the main concern but histological diagnosis and treatment is important. It is recommended your family doctor refer you to a physician that provides this type of lesion removal. Please note that at MD Aesthetics, we only remove small lesions and skin tags that DO NOT require an excision and suture procedure
MD Aesthetics provides: Electrocautery, used for small benign lesions and skin tags. Here the lesion is simply burnt off using high frequency galvanic current and Cryo treatment , the application of sub zero freezing to the lesion. This is used for larger benign skin tags, Keratosis and similar lesions.
