Many patients describe the sensation as momentary prickling and heat beneath the skin. Comfort levels vary from person to person. Most patients undergo the procedure without sedation or numbing medication. Some require a mild sedative like Ativan to reduce anxiety, while others may need a strong oral analgesic. These can be prescribed by Dr. Copeland during the consultation or before treatment. You will need to make arrangements for someone to drive you home if you chose to take this medication prior to the procedure.
